God called me to serve Him full-time in missions in 2002 when He asked me to go to Peru for two years to serve with the International Christian School of Lima (www.icslima.org) as their secondary math teacher. What an adventure it was as He called me back year after year to continue to serve in that place, while molding and changing me.
Now the plans have changed. God is moving me to a new place to serve with Him at a new school in rural Fiditi, Nigeria. The Bethel American International School (www.BethelAIS.org) opened its doors to 7th grade middle school students, adding a grade a year until there are some seniors ready to graduate. I have the privilege of serving at the school as the Academic Director, helping to shape the vision of the school to educate these kids in a way that honors my Lord and Saviour.
Prayer
* For teachers to be hired who have a passion for educating students in Nigeria * For security to be in place at the mission village so all who live there will be safe * For plumbing and electricity to be fully functioning before the students arrive * Wisdom to know exactly what I need to accomplish, at what point, so this school can open successfully * For the finances, personally, to be able to be part of this project * For the students who will attend this school to be ready to hear the gospel and challenged academically
Still praying
Interestingly, I wrote those prayer requests in 2012. As we start the 2013 school year, those prayer requests haven't changed much. I'm leaving them the same. Thanks for praying for me and the whole ministry team.
Fiditi, Nigeria
When I'm in Nigeria, there are a few things you should know. I do have internet, thanks to 3G telephone networks. It's not the fastest, but it's not bad. Thanks to the improvement in internet, I can Skype or FaceTime or chat on the phone. Call me some day! Electricity is scarce, so I'm thankful for generators and flashlights.
The time zone difference, during the summer half of the year, is six hours from the central time zone. So, if it's noon for you in MN it is 6pm for me in Nigeria. If it's the winter half of the year, it changes to 7 hours difference, so noon in MN is 7pm for me in Nigeria.
